Mark Hughes Foundation
From Brain Cancer Patient to Brain Cancer Research Champion……….Mark Hughes is a former professional Rugby League footballer from Kurri Kurri NSW. He played 161 games for the Newcastle Knights including 2 Grand Final wins in 1997 and 2001.
In 2013, with a wife and 3 small children, Mark was diagnosed with high grade brain cancer and knew that he was in for the fight of his life. 33 radiation sessions and 6 months of chemotherapy followed surgery. From the recovery ward bed, Mark knew something had to be done to make a difference and turn his diagnosis into a positive.
The Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) was formed by Mark and his wife Kirralee to heighten awareness and raise much needed funds to promote research into this terrible disease and provide patient support.
